On May 22^nd, Martijn will receive the “Ultima Muziek”, one of the Flemish Culture Prizes, which are awarded yearly to the most commendable artists of the region.The prize is worth €10.000 and a recognition for Martijn’s successes and his engagement for the Flemish youth orchestra’s as well as in new music.

“The jury praises the impressive trajectory Martijn is currently pursuing. His musical interests are broad, his reading of both the main repertoire and new music shows intense depth. He thereby makes a considerable contribution to the dynamics of classical music in Flanders and far beyond.”

Previous winner of the ultima include conductors Philippe Herreweghe and René Jacobs.
