On February 10^th, Martijn returned to the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw to lead Sinfonia Varsovia in a program with music by Dutilleux, Martinů and Brahms. This project marked his fourth collaboration with the Polish orchestra.

Only five weeks after his last appearance with Philzuid (formerly philharmonie zuidnederland) at the Musica Sacra Festival Maastricht, Martijn returns to the Dutch orchestra for a mini-tour through The Netherlands with violinist Arabella Steinbacher, including a concert in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

Martijn’s 2023-2024 season set off with debuts at two international festivals. He conducted the MDR-Sinfonieorchester at Kunstfest Weimar and led the Filmaronica Banatul Timisoara at the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest.

On 14 July 2023, intendant Cora Bethke and financial director Oliver Geipel announced that Martijn will become the Chief Conductor of the Hofer Symphoniker from the 2024/25 season on. His initial contract will cover a four-year period.

From May 18^th to May 23^d, Martijn conducted five performances of Le Nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart at the Teatro Comunale Bologna, marking his operatic conducting debut. The production, directed by Alessandro Talevi, received high acclaim by the audiences, as well as stunning reviews in local and international opera press.

On 21 and 22 April, Martijn conducted the Tonkünstler-Orchester Wien in the Festsaal of the Baden Casino, as well as in the Kasematten concert hall in Wiener Neustadt. This highly acclaimed debut in Austria featured a program with music from the Nordic countries.
