Swiss debut and end of season

After several successful concerts at the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam, Martijn is now looking forward to the last projects of this 2021/2022 season. On 16 June, he will make his debut in Switzerland with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in a programme of music by Salieri, Mozart and Mendelssohn. He then returns to the philharmonie zuidnederland in ‘s-Hertogenbosch for an open-air opera concert, and will conclude by conducting Dvořák’s Symphony of the New World with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra as part of their Serenadenhof season.

Together with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Johan Dalene, prize-winner of the Nielsen Competition, will perform W.A. Mozart’s 3rd Violin Concerto as soloist. The concert will take place in the special Chiesa San Biagio in Bellinzona.

In ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Martijn will conduct an opera gala with prizewinners of the International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch, including Stefan Astakov (Vienna State Opera) and Lenneke Ruiten.

On the open-air stage of Nuremberg’s Serenadenhof, Haiou Zhang will interpret the 12th Piano Concerto in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This delicate early work will be flanked by symphonic works by the most important Czech composers: Antonin Dvořák’s 9th Symphony and three dances from The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana.
